Pressure Point Therapy for Chronic Pain Relief

Do you suffer from chronic pain? You’re not alone. Millions of people around the world suffer from chronic pain. And for many of them, traditional medicine has failed to provide relief. What many people don’t know is that chronic pain can be caused by blocked nerves in the body called pressure points. In today’s post, I’ll explain to you what exactly pressure points are, how they cause chronic pain, and how you can find relief with a simple therapeutic technique.

What Are Pressure Points?

Pressure points are painful knots of energy that lie along your body’s nerve pathways. When these points are blocked, energy cannot flow through your nerves, which causes chronic pain. Think of it like a garden hose:  if the hose is unraveled properly, water can flow through it easily. But if the hose has twists or kinks in it, the water comes out more slowly (or doesn’t come out at all).

Your body relies on your nerve pathways to keep itself healthy and functioning properly, since your nervous system is responsible for carrying messages to and from your brain. When pressure points are blocked, it’s like there are kinks in the hose, and energy cannot flow through properly.

Pressure points can be found in many places on the body, but some of the most common locations are located along the spine, such as:

  • The base of the skull
  • Between the shoulder blades
  • In the lower back

How Does Pressure Point Therapy Work?

Pressure Point Therapy is a simple therapeutic technique that releases blocked pressure points to open the nerve pathways. When these points are released, energy can flow freely through the body, providing relief from chronic pain. In simple terms, what I’ll do is locate the blocked points on your body and apply a steady amount of pressure to it.

In the same way that a massage can loosen up tight muscles, applying pressure strategically in this way can loosen and unblock your pressure points to provide relief from chronic pain.

What are the Benefits of Pressure Point Therapy?

Many people don’t realize just how much these pressure points can interfere with the body’s natural functions. I’ve had several patients who were skeptical about Pressure Point Therapy at first; but once they received it, they were astounded by how much better they felt.

Your nervous system is extremely important to your overall health and wellbeing, which is why Pressure Point Therapy is such a vital tool. In addition to pain relief, Pressure Point Therapy has a wide range of other benefits, including:

  • Reduced stress and anxiety
  • Improved circulation
  • Lowered blood pressure
  • Reduced inflammation
  • Improved immune system
  • Relief from headaches
  • Restored energy levels

What is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic care is a holistic method of treating musculoskeletal and nervous system issues in the body, mainly along the spine. When your spine is out of alignment, it interferes with the nervous system and prevents the body from healing itself. Misaligned joints and pinched nerves can also lead to chronic pain.

This is why I use Pressure Point Therapy along with chiropractic adjustments to maximize my patients’ health benefits and pain relief. In fact, I am the only chiropractor in the greater St. Louis area who has the training to deliver Pressure Point Therapy. I like to use this technique because it’s a simple, natural way to relieve pain that’s nearly instantaneous. And when you combine it with routine chiropractic adjustments, your quality of life can get much better very easily.
